What is the future of poetry?

Postby jayarr » 3:47pm Sat Jun 26, 2010

To discover the latest informed thinking on this question,
What is the future of poetry?
you could do no better than read this recent thought provoking article in the Guardian.

The article begins by recounting the solicitation of answers to another question,
What is poetry for?
and the best answer, which I like, was
for paying attention

I also like this quote from one of my favorite poets Ian McMillan, the lyricist and presenter of Radio 3's The Verb,
A poem is not a Rubik's Cube. I think I know what it's about, it's about moles,
he says.
In the end, it's about itself.
